Diagnosis: Types of Tumors

Epithelial Cancer: Micropapillary serous carcinoma
Despite the apparent absence of destructive infiltrative growth in the noninvasive variant of MPSC, the limited available data indicate that it behaves as a low grade serous carcinoma. Stage I MPSC appear to be cured by adnexectomy alone, although only a small number of stage I tumors have been reported. Based on relatively limited data from three studies, the 5 and 10-year survival rates for patients with advanced stage MPSC are approximately 84% and 58%, respectively. Documented recurrences of invasive carcinoma have been reported in 34% of advanced stage MPSCs.
