Adam Stack
A natural born athlete, 20 year-old Colorado native Adam Stack began climbing at age eleven. Thought to have a promising career in baseball, when Adam's gym teacher turned out to be Mike Caldwell, father of world-class climber Tommy Caldwell, his attention became more focused on climbing. The senior Caldwell quickly became Adam's mentor and even belayed him on his hardest redpoint to date, Kryptonite 5.14d. "That was very special for me," Adam recalls.
Competing on the indoor climbing competition circuit for several years, at age 16 Adam decided to devote his time to climbing outdoors. He the elite ranks of sport climbing at age 17, having redpointed many routes of the 5.14 grade. "Climbing has been a constant [process of] evolution for me. At first, it was just a fun and cool thing to do. Later, it was about chasing numbers and now it's about being with friends and sharing experiences."
Adam is known in the climbing world for his exceptional accomplishments on the rock as well as his charm, charisma and ability to find adventure just about anywhere. On his various climbing trips, Adam has endured food poisoning, a robbery, a dog attack and staring down the barrel of a gun. "I climb for these sorts of memories because I will never forget them. How can you forget losing your shoes and having to walk nine miles off of Half Dome barefoot?"
The HERA Foundation is thrilled to have Adam Stack as this year's Adrenaline Film Fest MC.
