The HERASM Foundation
The HERA Women's Cancer Foundation was founded by Sean Patrick, an ovarian cancer survivor and climber.
HERA is an all volunteer organization enabling the
foundation to give at least 85% of the money raised directly to ovarian cancer research and to aide women and their families battling this disease. Because of the generous donations of our event sponsors to date, more than 90% of the money raised has gone directly to research and programs.
The name HERA comes from the Greek goddess named Hera. In her earlier days
Hera was a protector of women. Later she became known for shaking up the status quo of the ancient world of the gods. Hera also means woman/lady in modern Greek and is an acronym for women's Health, Empowerment, Research and Advocacy.
HERA"s mission is to stop the loss of mothers, daughters, sisters, grandmothers, aunts, wives and girlfriends from ovarian cancer.
We do that by:
- Empowering women to take control of their health
- Empowering research scientists to find new directions in early detection, treatment and prevention.
- Empowering communities to provide support.
