The HERA Ovarian Cancer Climb for Life - Red Rocks Challenge took place at the Powerhouse Climbing Center and Desert Rock Sports September 14, 2002. Stephanie Forte, well-known sponsored climber, presented HERA with almost $3,000 at the national event in Salt Lake City September 19-22. Over 75 people showed up and Stephanie garnered a lot of publicity for this disease. Way to go Steph!

The Ovarian Cancer Alliance of Nevada was there to hand out materials and answer questions about ovarian cancer. Sponsored by Red Rocks Community Bank, GC Wallace Engineering, Climbing Magazine, Powerbar, prAna and Nevada Woman.

Class 5 Climbing and Fitness and other Touchstone Climbing gyms raised $1336 in donations from their Climb for Life fundraiser! The money was raised at Class 5 Climbing and Fitness and their sister gyms, Mission Cliffs, San Francisco and Touchstone Climbing and Fitness, Concord. Class 5 Climbing and Fitness in Marin Co. California hosted Climb for Life fundraising events in the form of a raffle with generous local contributions, an ovarian cancer awareness day Friday, September 20th with info, massage, and shiatsu with proceeds being donated to HERA, and an outdoor climbing clinic Sunday, September 22nd with 100% of the proceeds going to HERA.

Member and local support was incredible. Class 5 Climbing and Fitness is very excited about how much money they raised for this great cause and hope to make it an annual event.

The Rockquest Climbing Center held a special day of climbing on Saturday, September 21, 2002 in Cincinnati, OH. Claudia York, an ovarian cancer survivor and head of the local NOCC, was on hand to answer questions and hand out materials on the disease.
